We were only a few weeks old when we were departed from our mother. How upset we were but the last words she had told us were,”Remember what I have taught you. It will come to use in the near future.”
To new homes we were off. A new start, a new environment, a new everything to cover it!
“Your names shall be… I know! Angus and Aimee, perfect.” Alice had said.
She had taken us to her room and made us a basket for each of us to sleep. “She’s quite a nice person, don’t you think Angus?”
“She certainly is. Gee... I’m hungry. Should we go find something?”
“Now… I haven’t told my father about you guys yet, so be on your best behavior if you possibly can.”
Angus has quickly ran to his place. As he wonders what adventures he can possibly do, Alice walked in with a bowl of leftovers she had had the other night and placed them on the floor.
“My father and I discussed this, about having two kittens, the other day… but he wasn’t very pleased. He was out of his mind, intoxicated, like every other night. I’m sure that with you two around I won’t feel as alone.”
I and Aimee stared at Alice with our large grey eyes. Aimee had jumped out of her place and purred next to Alice’s leg. I sensed that something wasn’t right, at least not with Alice. But perhaps I’d see things over time. I jumped out of my place and Aimee and I began to eat. We were starving!
We suddenly heard a door slam shut. We raised our heads to see no one.
“Quick! Under my bed kittens!’
“Alice? Where on earth are you?!”
As we saw from under the bed we were whispering on how horrible it was to hear him. This sure would be… I thought this would be a safe home.
“Hey dad... How was it with your friends?” asked Alice worriedly in a way.
“Spit it out. What did you do now? Huh?’’
“You see… well… I brought home two kittens if that’s fine with you?”
“When did we have a discussion about this? You better take care of them or I’ll be the one in charge get rid of them.’’
“I’ll be sure to take good care of them dad.”
As the days have passed, Angus and Aimee had realized that her father had been repeatedly hurt her day after day. They had tried doing something once, they were hurt and from that day forth, all they found themselves were harm. They only wished to be in a safe place where there was no need to deal with such things. How terrible it was.
Angus was limping as he walked to her place. “Aimee? I don’t wish to live this way anymore. Lets escape this overwhelming home. We are outnumbered. We can’t take this guy. Alice can’t help us.. We’ll just have to help ourselves. No one will feed us.”
“Those cat… those cats! I’ve had enough of them!’’
Alice’s fathers began to through them around and mistreat them as he had with Alice. They felt the pain and suffering that Alice had once lived. They limped their way out of the door.
“What have we done to deserve such owners? Such selfish machines that they are. But we’ll return Angus, no worries. Love will just kill us all…”
Angus and Aimee had thought that love was what had been shown them.
They found refuge at the park. There they figured no one would surely come to harm. They’d see tons of people come and go. Both had stayed hidden in the bushes for the meantime till it was night time.
Days past by and food was scarce. They soon decided to change from their spot that they once were in.
As we were shortly coming to the corner of the street, we have noticed someone behind us. As we turned, we realized someone was about to catch us, “Yay, a new home where protection will be above our heads?’’ said Angus. “Free at last,” Aimee had said. Days and weeks passed by, but no one wished to adopt them.
“I feel so miserable without you, it's almost like having you here,” both had said as they fell asleep.
Satirizes how some foster kids are adopted yet they aren't treated the way they should be and they're left all on their own once more with the thought that family love is nothing but a joke.
